rodney is such a doll cos (usually it takes him about ten years to email me back when i write to him) he wrote me today to say that he hoped i would be safe tomorrow. ah put-outs love. they need to get on tour soon. nobody cares (except maybe claire), but apparently they're trying to play some dates with the faults, who are mic harrison from superdrag's band. weeeee. this whole hurricane isobel thing is so exciting. exciting enough for classes to be cancelled tomorrow! which is amazing cos i didn't get off work until after 11 tonight and i was pissed cos i had a test tomorrow that i needed to study for. now i won't have to worry about it until tuesday! speaking of work! the new mall opens tomorrow and there is a starbucks there and tonight they were giving out free coffee for a couple hours. i guess to practice or something? but my boss let me and the other girl who was helping me stock stuff go get coffee (cos jeremy loves me) and i got a chocolate brownie frappucino. i'm not a big coffee person but that was pretty yum. i was wired for a while after that, it's probably what kept me going until 11. hehe. the only thing i am worried about tomorrow is flooding. my room is in the basement. i don't want my stuff flooded. i already know that i'm going to disconnect my computer and put the hard drive up on the desk cos it's on the floor right now. and i need to move my vcr. rah rah. i'm tired. goodnite. who knows when i will talk to you again.. i'm not going to pretend that i was this huge johnny cash fan or anything, but i always have to smile when i think of him because when i was younger, my neighbors down the street used to have a bbq on the fourth of july every year. and they would put a tape in the stereo and play it and after the sun had gone down and we kids had worn ourselves out a bit, we would sit and listen to the adults talk and be goofy. and the tape ALWAYS had "tennessee stud" on it. and every year at least one of the parents would get up and do a dance to it and we would all laugh. i love johnny cash. i am a big dork because i am updating about this, but someone wrote this on the superdrag board: "Talking to Sam in Boston was a true pleasure. He is always very nice. He is excited about the GBV tour and especially about becoming a dad next April. Good luck Sammy!!!" AH MY GOD. A BABY SAMMY POWERS POP. excuse me while i die of absolute cuteness. sam powers is like my second favourite person ever. haha. tomorrow i am submitting my study abroad application. so please cross your fingers for me. i am also pathetically obsessing over this song right now. it's been the only thing playing in my winamp for the past three days. i'm dead serious. "how many friends have i really got? i can count 'em on one hand. how many friends have i really got? how many friends have i really got that love me, that want me, that'll take me as i am?" i don't like to ask my friends to buy me things for my birthday, but this is too cute and i need an address book badly, as claire oh-so-wisely pointed out to me once. i would get it myself but i don't have a credit card. i have my photo album (mostly of photos from last year) open in front of me and right now i'm looking at the photo of cogi hugging the big poster of the aldo boy that we passed by on the street. i miss new york & the co. i am now probably going to read & rewatch the george episode of queer eye for the straight guy for the fiftieth time. okay, this is about five or something years old, but it still makes me laugh hysterically whenever i read it: Mimi sat on Peter's orange couch, next to a cute blonde. "Hello," she said. "Hey babe, what's happening?" he said. "My name's George." "Hi. I'm Mimi," she said. "You know, I'm really upset. My queen ant died this morning while I was sleeping, and before I woke up, the other ants had already gorged on her dead body," he said. "Um... excuse me for an hour," Mimi said, and quickly left that room. in other news. i need to go home and upload the put-outs pictures that rodney sent me. aj and john are such camera whores! haha. there's a really funny one of aj singing and it's caption "aj - sweet love-making vocals" and it's amusing. i'm bored. september seventh is a sad sad day in the history of rock. my most favourite person ever, keith moon, departed our world twenty-five years ago today. and happily, right now i am in total who-obsession mode and will someone please invent a time machine so i can go watch the monterey pop festival live and in person? this photo is great just cos the happy jack video is so incredibly amusing and i want to splatter a pie in someone's face. i hate the new lj format thing
so i went to the nanci raygun website to check out what's going on with this mountain goats show on saturday (songs:ohia are playing, too, jessrawk would like that) and i was looking at other shows and holyyyyy shit! 10.10 the walkmen, earlimart, you are the drum- 18+, 9pm, $8/ free w/ vcu id 10.21 the thermals, tba- 5pm the walkmen! THE THERMALS! but i hate the fact that vcu people get into these shows for free. just cos vcu is closer and a more indie-rock-ish school shouldn't mean they're the only ones who should get in for free! ps: i thought the strokes were supposed to be doing a CLUB tour this fall?? then why are they playing some 4000-capacity FIELDHOUSE in d.c.? i wonder if my brother would want to go. pps: anyone wanna buy me a ticket to the travis show? maybe pay for my transportation as well? blah. nevermind. sorry. that's when the party started as far as i know
this is the entry in which a) jamie begs for help and b) jamie complains a lot about concerts. BY THE WAY I HAVE A FUCKING CRICKET IN MY FUCKING WARDROBE, WHAT THE HELL. I CAN'T FIND IT. a) i need to buy a domain. someone please help me out and inform me of a not-expensive domain where i can host the put-outs website. it's only gonna be the website, nothing else, so i don't need a million megabytes of space or anything. b) concerts i will NOT be seeing this fall, much to my disappointment: [well let me start by expressing my sadness that i wasn't at the dplan's "last" show at the 9:30 club on monday night. :(] superdrag, sept. 5 dandy warhols, sept. 12 b.r.m.c., sept. 18 supergrass, oct. 7 hot hot heat, oct. 10 (dammit, and they're playing with the french kicks) beulah, oct. 13 interpol & elefant, oct. 16 JUNIOR SENIOR AND THE ELECTRIC SIX. TOGETHER. FUCK. oct 29 concerts that i will probably miss but of my own choice because i just don't care anymore: phantom planet, whenever in november they're playing d.c. ack. travis just announced a date at the 9:30 club on october 23rd. i've missed travis about three or four times now. let's hope my aunt & uncle are willing to go to a show on a thursday night or something. dammit, i DESPERATELY want this shirt but in a small. i can't find who shirts anywhere! "why do i have to move with a crowd of kids that hardly notice i'm around i work myself to death just to fit in..." i keep seeing the last few episodes of i love the 70s and in 1978 they talk about the who vs. led zeppelin. those who know me know who i side with and i can get rather fiesty about it. but that's not what i'm gonna gripe about. so on the show they discuss roger daltrey vs. robert plant. then they discuss jimmy page vs. pete townshend. then they... cut to the next segment?!?!?! dear vh1, THANK YOU FOR NOT BOTHERING TO TALK ABOUT POSSIBLY THE TWO GREATEST DRUMMERS IN ROCK & ROLL HISTORY. ps: jason schwartzman could SO play keith in a movie. so MONDAY at 11am (finally got it figured out) is my radio show. if you are awake and have nothing better to do, you can listen in here on the site. i have the first wdce show of the semester and i've already decided that the first song i'm playing is going to be "danger! high voltage" by the electric six cos that song pretty much has so many memories associated with it from the summer. i introduced casey to the song and then it spread like wildfire amongst her friends. and if the justin timberlake show at the 9:30 wasn't 21+, i would SO be there. oh man. there goes any indie cred i have, but i think it would be loads of fun. haha. and my ex-roomie and i have resolved to go to the gym three times a week together. (something we planned on doing last year when we lived together but never did. haha.) i'm glad about this because i think that if i start working out, i'll start feeling better about myself. i hate looking like a pole. i'd at least like to look like a pole with some muscles. :P ( evil laughter ) Current Music: junior senior - move your feet |

i find this amusing. today i saw pirates etc. again, and i sat next to this ten-year-old girl. and when the kissing scene came, she was like "ewww" and i was sighing and saying to myself "dear god, i want to be elizabeth swann right at this moment". i love how perspectives on kissing change as you get older. although. hottt kiss of the day has to go to from hell*. first, heather graham *tries* to kiss johnny depp cos they both obviously fancy each other, but he won't let her cos he's still hooked on the memory of his wife who died two years previous, so heather's character gets pissed and insults him... and johnny's response is to throw her against the wall and ravish her. well, not completely *ravish* her, but give her an amazing snog to be desired. oh god. i absolutely need a life. or a guy. whatever. haha. *when you have digital cable and nothing better to do, trust me, you just sit and watch random movies on hbo or hbo comedy or hbo zone or any of the other billion hbos you happen to have. 1. i'm absolutely fascinated by this enormous blackout that has taken over the areas from ottawa to detroit to nyc. colleen and pamela! they have no power! i thought of them immediately when my mum told me. i hope they're not stuck in elevators or anything. 2. i had to take my kitten to the vet today for shots and i felt absolutely horrible. 3. i rented y tu mama tambien and ed wood today. i saw the latter a long time ago with my mum, and johnny depp is so terrifically wacky and it's great. go see it. 4. oh no! they just announced the power outage is in new jersey, too. i wonder if robin's involved now. i'll have to try calling her. ( 5. you all can count on me to post a ridiculous amount of random pictures. ) Current Music: the put-outs - pretend they're all as pretty as you |
